West Virginia University (WVU) Medicine purchased a dated hospital campus that had deteriorated under previous ownership. WVU partnered with HED to assess the long-term options and costs of either revitalizing the campus or constructing a new one. The campus and its operational functions to identify current issues, opportunities, and costs were analyzed, creating a right-sizing framework for WVU Medicine's future decision-making.

This fast-tracked approach incorporated MEP analysis to explore scenarios with functioning systems and employed critical evaluation of future possibilities. As part of the WVU Medical system, the renovation of Fairmont Campus will provide 42 inpatient beds, adding two new units to the facility.
