The Vine Street development aimed to transform the link between the University of Tennessee campus and downtown Chattanooga. The goal was to revitalize the area in between by providing a best-in-class mixed-use development comprised of off campus student housing, market rate residential units, and commercial and hotel development. The development offers a wide range of residential units, maximizing rentable square footage, successful commercial space, and accessibility to open space. The design re-thinks a number of privately used surface parking lots and activates the street edge by adopting the proposed Chattanooga downtown based code, offering possibilities for a variety of commercial spaces missing in the area.
