When HED embarked on conceptualizing the new Detroit office design, inspiration started with the neighborhood, characterized by expansive greenspaces, vibrant streetscapes, and a very active commercial rail line directly behind the office. Drawing from these surroundings, HED crafted the idea of a “railroad” inspired narrative.
This holistic approach extended seamlessly into our Environmental Graphic Design (EGD) strategy, where custom nomenclature became a pivotal element in reinforcing our design narrative. The large workspace is known as "The Shop," while small meeting rooms became "Cabins," and the central row of large meeting rooms became the "Railcar." The personalization strengthens the visual connection to the overall narrative and heightens the visual experience within the space.
This attention to detail exemplifies how thoughtful integration of EGD can elevate the experience of any architectural space by providing an intelligent, subtle, and holistic approach to graphics.
