Located on a public beach and replacing an aging facility, the Belmont Beach and Aquatic Center establishes a new focal point for the Long Beach aquatic competition community. Supporting therapeutic and recreational activities as well as ...swimming, diving and water polo competitions, the Center has become an iconic civic institution for the region. HED, in collaboration with RoTo as design architect and Hastings+Chivetta as aquatics architect, designed the facilities to include two 50-meter competition pools, recreational and teaching pools, therapeutic whirlpools, diving platforms, springboards and deep water wells, spectator seating, and support spaces. Outdoors, a park, walk-up restaurant, and landscaped plazas issue an open invitation to beachgoers and community members, taking full advantage of the Center’s Southern California setting.
