Education with a view
This pre k-8 charter academy, located in the small town of Edwards in the Vail Valley, was a replacement building on the same site as the existing school (which consisted of multiple modular buildings). The new building not only allowed the school to function under a single roof but provided much needed gymnasium and performing arts spaces for the students and community.

The design captures views to the nearby Beaver Creek ski area and maximizes solar exposure for natural daylighting. The two-story building utilizes a high efficiency heating and ventilation system which includes full heat-recovery to minimize energy use and costs.
