Lobby Repositioning, Confidential Client
Chicago, IL
Luxurious refresh.
More than an office lobby.
Luxury to stand the test of time
HED provided a refresh of furniture and signage in the lobby of this iconic Chicago high rise office building, encouraging a social work setting with spontaneous interaction through increased utilization of the lobby and its amenities. The repositioning consisted of new arcade and lobby seating and visually connecting the lobby to the building amenities through wayfinding and experiential graphics in the escalator corridor. Lobby furniture is luxurious to mirror the finishes of the lobby, but durable to ensure longevity. The escalator design is inspired by the roadways of the downtown Chicago area, with a custom graphic wall using an abstract take on a map of the area. The organic light fixtures are placed in line with the diagonal slope of the escalator, and new LED down lights were installed to enhance light levels.

Results
To ensure all client needs were met, multiple schemes were created and presented. After the schemes were better detailed, HED implemented a grading system to identify the best performing schemes that could be further refined through scope narratives and ROM conceptual budgets.
