For Playa Vista, a new high-end, mixed-use community on LA’s west side, HED recently designed 125 more affordable condo units specifically set aside for LA’s workforce. These community members frequently struggle to secure housing that is both close to work and financially feasible.

Positioned at the edge of Playa Vista, the units take full advantage of the development’s expansive campus, including gathering spaces, parks, and recreation areas. From this vibrant outdoor community, occupants enter a peaceful, contemplative interior organized around an open central courtyard. Each unit includes a full-sized kitchen, dining room, living room, bedroom and bathroom as well as a private balcony. The exterior design leverages a clean, modern aesthetic that echoes the development’s higher-priced housing, ensuring the units seamlessly blend with surrounding properties. An underground parking podium provides secure indoor parking.

We believe the ability to live within a reasonable commute to work shouldn’t be a luxury available only to a select few. Through our work on the new Playa Vista development, HED helped to provide 125 members of LA’s workforce with quality housing that is closer to their workplaces, enabling them to fully participate in the communities they serve and support.
