HED welcomes Kurt Volkman as new Housing & Mixed-Use Sector Leadership in Chicago
HED is pleased to welcome Kurt Volkman, AIA, LEED AP BD+C to the firm as Associate Principal, Housing & Mixed-Use Sector Leadership in the Chicago office, bringing over twenty-seven years of experience in the delivery of complex projects in communities across greater Chicago and nationally. In this role, Kurt will lead integrated architectural and engineering design teams to develop and execute effective and sensitive design responses in the housing and mixed-use sectors.
Prior to joining HED, Kurt acted as the Director of Corporate & Commercial Architecture and Urban Planning at Legat Architects in Chicago, where he led Midwest and National teams in the design and delivery of hospitality, entertainment, multifamily, retail, senior living, and life science projects. He is an active advocate of Enlightened Urbanism, marrying urban planning, evidence-based design, and experiential design to create a sense of place by incorporating principles of wellness and sustainability into every project.
