HED elevates four new Sector Leaders across the country
HED is pleased to share that, effective immediately, four young designers have been elevated to positions of Sector Leadership across the country:
• Scott Berge, AIA, LEED AP, Pre K-12 Education
• Jon Howard, AIA, CDT, Science
• Alli Mallory, AIA, Housing & Higher Education
• Grace Milenkov, Associate AIA, Pre K-12 Education
“This expansion of the sector leadership team reflects not just our industry’s recovery from the pandemic, but also a new rising generation of leaders within the firm,” say Enrique Suarez, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, HED’s Corporate Marketing Leader. “We continue to shape the formation of our design teams around experience that best meets the challenges our clients face, and this expansion of the leadership team reflects that. These individuals have been selected for their dedication to meeting our client’s ever-evolving challenges head on and creating design solutions that get results.”

Scott Berge, AIA, LEED AP, Pre K-12 Education Sector Leader in San Francisco
Scott has been with HED for over 15 years and is known for his attention to detail and knowledge of energy-efficient design. His passion has always been in designing for communities, and he takes pride in serving thousands of California students and families through design. Of his design ethos, he states he consciously selects materials and design layouts that have a “warm, non-institutional feel,” so that students and staff take joy in their learning environments.
Jon Howard, AIA, CDT, Science Sector Leader in Chicago
With over 15 years of industry experience, Jon is a passionate believer that the overall success of a project largely depends on the quality and rigor of its design process approach. In his prior role as a Project Manager, he led multi-discipline teams of architects, engineers, and consultants on a variety of highly complex and technical projects. Over time, his core area of expertise has become defined within the science and technology sector, leading projects of all scales from small laboratories to entire research campus footprints.
Alli Mallory, AIA, Housing & Higher Education Sector Leader in Chicago
A leader known for her ability to guide clients seamlessly through each phase of the design and construction process, Alli’s experience has been broad across housing and higher education design. Her knowledge and skill allow her to bring simplicity and efficiency to the projects she leads, streamlining the technical and creative aspects of each project. Her experience has varied from affordable and mixed-use housing developments to student housing and classroom buildings, allowing her to identify advantageous synergies between the two seemingly disparate markets.
Grace Milenkov, Associate AIA, Pre K-12 Education Sector Leader in Los Angeles
Grace is a highly focused leader, known for her ability to ensure coordination and success in the alignment of scope, schedule, and budget. A passionate advocate for her clients, Grace has a proven track record for the successful delivery of community and education sector projects. With over 17 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of educational facilities, she is an expert in her field with a passion for creating the kind of innovative learning environments that can only be achieved through close collaboration and mutual respect with clients.
